Album “Carousel” go on Sale
Band Records First CD.
The band recorded their first CD this weekend which will be on sale very soon. The Band would like to send a LARGE thank you to the following people for lending their talents to the band and aiding in the recording: Paul – Eb Bass Sue – 2nd Trombone and Percussion David – Solo Trombone Alan – Bb Bass The Band would also like to thank our very own Suzie for arranging for the DCF’s Hall (Deal Christian Fellowship) as the venue for the recording. Finally a big thanks to Andy Horne of Deal Swerve Digital for recording the CD.
Congratulations to Kevin Spencer
Kevin Spencer has been awarded a Diploma in Conducting after a lot of hard work. He can now append the letters LLCM after his name. The band congratulates Kevin on his acheivement.
SCWB Website Goes Live
A dedicated website for the Snowdown Colliery Welfare Brass Band has now been developed by Ritchie Fraser. The Band formally had a collection of pages as part of Ritchie’s personal website at www.rpfraser.uklinux.net (No longer available). These pages have been split and developed solely for the Band into a site dedicated to the Snowdown Colliery Welfare Band.
Brighton and Hove Contest
A valiant effort by the band in this contest. Well done. The last position does not adequately reflect the hard work put in though! Better luck next time.
Folkestone Contest, October 2003
The band competed in the Southern Counties Amateur Bands Associations” Folkestone Contest this weekend. The band improved from last years position, and attained a 10th place.
Conductor, Micheal Brimson, Leaves Band
The conductor of Snowdown Colliery Welfare Band, Micheal Brimson, resigned yesterday after three years in the position. The band thank him for his time and efforts to improve the band, and wish him all the best in his new endeavours. Unfortunately, this means that the band, is again looking for a new conductor. Anyone who is interested should contact the Chairman or the Band Secretary (See the About > Contacts page)
New Band Conductor Accepts Position
Kevin Spencer returns to his position as Conductor of Snowdown Colliery Welfare Band with renewed vigour and enthusiasm. Kevin, who conducted the band a few years ago, had to step down due to other commitments. We, the band, welcome him back, and hope that he will enjoy conducting us again.
Brighton and Hove Contest
Snowdown band competed in the contest at Hove Town Hall, Brighton and Hove today.Music played: March: Castell Coch Test: Royal Parks The band played well, but managed only last place.Hard Luck again band!
