Richard learnt to play a brass instrument when aged eight, in Brazil. Since settling in England, aged 13, he has played Cornet with the Croydon Salvation Army Band, New Malson Wind Band, Epson and Ewell Silver / Brass and now plays for Faversham and Snowdown Bands. Highlights of his playing carreer include: PLaying under Sir Adrian Boult, Full score performances of `Carmina Burana` and the `Messiah` with choirs and professional singers, reaching the national finals in the 2nd section with the Epson and Ewell Band, a ten day tour in Finland with Croydon and further short tours in Germany, Holland and France.
